Re: camaro front clip

I have seen this done to a 60 truck. Measure the frames. It is going to take alot of measuring and welding. Where their is a will there is a way, but will be a big job.

Did a check for you, and I think David T's got a '79 clip for sale. Don't know of the shape it's in, but would be a glove fit if good, eh?

Also sheck PM for question.

Re: camaro front clip

Yes it can be done. I have done it myself on 6 or 7 trucks. Here is a link.

Re: camaro front clip

Works well, but one thing I see quite a bit is the center of the spindle is either a little to far forward or back making the tire look a little off in the fender opening. Just a matter of getting your measurements and trial fit exact before welding.

Re: camaro front clip

Moving the center forward about 3/4 of an inch works good. Should test fit first though, with all front sheet metal on the truck.

Re: camaro front clip

Absolutely. i have personally seen and ridden in one. Rides very well.

The key is to really measure anything.

i think if i was in the same position i would just get like a newer shortbed or blazer frame and go with that. Or really, the simpliest thing would be just to continue using the stock frame.

Re: camaro front clip

What is the intended purpose and reasoning behind the swap?

Re: camaro front clip

The truck came with a straight axle, no power steering or disc brakes. After the swap it drives like a Camaro.
