Apache Car Trailer Wiring Lights and Brakes

Just picked up a New Apache Car Trailer (no owners manual) and need to understand how the Lights & Brakes are suppose to connect to my 2002 Silverado. The Trailer has a female 6 point circular plug. So, I need a male 6 point circular plug and thinking I must also need a brake control for inside the truck cab, right?

That sounds like a 7 pin? Brake controller is a must pulling cars.
Google is your friend here for a schematic.

When you buy the new connector it will should a standard code diagram for where the truck wires go. I'll bet the trailer is already wired that way. I'm also thinking 7 pins, 6 on outside one in center.
