Car shippers, recommendations...

I have a '71 Chevelle SS Convertible...... and need to ship it.
So anyone have any recommendations as to which companies, and there are many, are the best for quality service when shipping a car coast-to-coast, in my case east coast to west coast ?? Any input would be appreciated. Even though it will cost a bit more, I am considering an enclosed trailer shipper....
Wanted to drive it across,, but better judgement has started to take over.... IT is a long ride and I will be doing it in August ... Thanks

I have used Reliable twice to ship cars from Detroit to San Diego. Not the cheapest but both times excellent service and no issues whatsoever.

x3 on Reliable. They delivered my 68 vert back in 1995. Would use them again if I needed to ship a car.

Re: Car shippers, recommendations...

Hire an I dependant hauler. I used Reliable and it took forever. Your car will be switched from truck to truck when crossing the country. They stage everything. I've used uship and had great results. You can look at the shippers feedback and find the right one for the job. Just don't hire the ones on Shipping wars....lol

Re: Car shippers, recommendations...

Thanks for the feedback.
I will check into these....
I really wanted to drive it across, since we have 2 other daily driver cars going out there under there own power, so we would have a "convoy" for 3000 miles..... Crazy idea, but would be fun to do especially since we are following the Route 66 route part of the way.......

Pat,

I would drive it when it gets cooler if you think it will make the trip ....

Nothing beats a X country road adventure ....

If you want a price on enclosed direct transport, contact me.

Re: Car shippers, recommendations...

I would highly recommend: Glory Auto Transport, 303-822-6767, http://www.gloryautotransport.com

I am from CO but bought my car in KY. Getting it home was a challenge as I could not find a transport. I called several of the well known ones and they turned out to be brokers that take your load info and feed it into a trucker computer and wait for one of the truckers to byte on it. After waiting for 2 weeks with no bytes I knew I wasn't getting anywhere. That's when a friend of mine turned me to these guys. His brother is a car collector with many cars and only uses them. This is a husband/wife run business and believe they are good, honest hardworking people. They are based out of Denver but make cross country runs every week. They did an excellent job getting my car to me and I would use them again in a heartbeat. The owner name is Lee and he is really a good guy. $950 was the cost back in 9/2007

Matt
