Headlight Issue in 2004 BMW 325Ci

Problem: Passenger side headlight is out.

I replaced the bulb with no improvement. Switched the same bulb to the driver's side and it works there. I've read up that it might be the HID Control Module that resides on the bottom of the headlight assembly or a broken wiring somewhere. The module has been removed but I have no way to test it. Based on my reading there is another module under the dash somewhere.

I see replacement modules from Rock Auto for $230 to > $500 elsewhere. I can buy this and install it, but it is an expensive test if it doesn't fix the problem.

Has anyone out there faced this problem? Am I on the right track?

Oh wait, I should read my Bentley E46 manual before I reply.

If you have Xenon's, two items come up, swappable per side.
Ignitor module behind the low beam bulb (outside), and
control module, a 3 inch by 3 inch box.
DON"T touch the bulb, otherwise, rinse with alcohol for removing finger print oil.
Halogen's replace bulb(s).

Re: Headlight Issue in 2004 BMW 325Ci

I have the control module sitting here on the arm of my chair. Wish there was some means to test it, but as you said i could swap them side to side. Wish I had started that earlier this evening.
Those headlight modules are a bear to disconnect and remove.

Rockauto does not state that it is not returnable. I may go ahead and order one, if I have to return it my cost will be minimal.

Received the new control module today and put it in. The headlight now works. Thank you Everette.
