Battery acid

Among the stuff I found digging out my old camaro is a container of unused battery electrolyte. I assume it to be some strength of sulfuric acid. How is this stuff disposed?

Re: Battery acid

Call your local haz mat organization for proper disposal or call your local mechanic and see if you can hand it off to them.

Call your Interstate Battery store, they could help you.

Re: Battery acid

I'd save it to top of low cells in a battery that you may encounter at some point. Most maintenance free batteries still have cell caps but they are flush with the top of the battery and usually hidden by a large sticker.

Yes, and it can be poured down the drain after neutralizing. Get some pH test paper and watch the pH change if you have any doubts about how much to use. It may generate some heat and bubbles so do it in an open container outside and add a little at a time to minimize any fumes. You can dilute it with lots of water too.

That's why you never marry a lawyer. My best friend is a lawyer and there's no way I would have married her! Her dad is a lawyer too. Along with a brother and a bunch of other family members.

Great people to have on your side. REALLY bad to have against you!
