66 Pontiac GTO

Thoughts on repairing this? I can get an entire quarter for around $600. They only make a 67 quarter at this point and not many places carry it yet. Anyone know what modifications I would have to make for it to fit the 66? I think the main difference is at the rear where it meets the tail panel. Anyone have a good source for these quarters?

Thanks!

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

When I did my '66 a few years ago nobody made full quarters and the skins were garbage. I ended up buying a rot free CA shell. OPGI said production was halted due to manufacturing and poor demand to justify start-up. Who is making the full '67 quarters now and how is the quality? Try the GTO forum for reviews. If the only difference is the taillight area, use the 67 full quarter and scab it into the 66 rear. I would not patch that quarter in mid panel; too much work. Or ask the company when 66 quarters are due for delivery if at all.

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

Dynacorn has the 67 quarters out and they are now showing a 66 quarter part number. I tried to call them yesterday, but all I get is voicemail. Patching this is probably above my skill level, but I feel that I could probably replace a full quarter. Seems there is a lot of people that want quarters for 66 GTO's, but who really knows.

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

Not sure if or when the 66 quarters will be available. Any thoughts on the best way to patch this up?

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

The last I new 10 years ago, all the quarters were Chinese made and listed as 66-67. The rear body line behind the wheel well is off 1/2 inch on one end and 1/4 on the other end. They sell the quarter and say you need to cut off the rear lower portion and put a patch panel on the corrects the issue. We have 12 GTOs and have been through this years ago.

There is a lower patch panel out there too, for a little less than $200. Not sure of the quality on it. Any experience with it? I've heard the quarter skins are pretty terrible.

I would strip the entire 1/4 and the determine if you should patch or replace.

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

I had to only put the US made behind wheel well patches on my 64. When Dynacorn offered a quarter for 66-67 I called and asked about the quality. I was told they were Chinese. As far as I know there is no decent quarter offered.

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

Dynacorn is making a full 67 quarter, or at least there is pics and prices floating around. One is even advertised on ebay. I have also found part numbers for a 66 full quarter, but who knows when or if it will ever be offered. I will probably have to try to patch this if I want to paint it this coming summer.

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

I was told by an employee here that they produce the GTO parts. I'm not sure how much truth there is in that but he grew up down the street from me. I don't think he would lie about GTO parts to me as he knows my passion is Camaros.

Re: 66 Pontiac GTO

I don't think they produce them there, but they do stock them. I think that is the place that has advertised having the 67 GTO quarter panels on ebay. I think Dynacorn makes them.

Tamraz is just a stocking dealer, they don't manufacture anything that I know of.
