Water Troubles

Hey there, i have some questions. i live by Houston in texas and we're having HORRRIBLE flooding right now. We have a 84 vette, my uncle was driving it home and he got caught in a big water spot, the car died while he was stuck. The electronics work but the start turns one or two times and then stops. Should i be concerned? Gonna be trading it for a '68 so i kinda want it to work lol

Re: Water Troubles

You didn't say how deep. Although a Vette doesn't have to be that deep.

Re: Water Troubles

Re: Water Troubles

Get it home. Pull the plugs, drain the oil, change filter, squirt oil in the cylinders through the plug holes, Fire and bring to temp. Change oil and filter again.

Re: Water Troubles

Check & change the oil. Pull the plugs and see if it turns over and blows water out. Hope it works out.

This was a biblical flood for those who don't know. Addicks and Barker flood reservoirs 4 plus feet higher than history. Major routes blocked for a couple of weeks and still a good rain a way from happening again. It may not be safe to buy a used car around here for years.

Re: Water Troubles

Good news! the intake was nowhere near how i thought it would be designed, so no water got into it and we got it home no problems it's running great, i'm drying out the interrior right now, thanks for all of the advice though, i'll remember all of that when i have another problem like that
