10" brush blade

Ever use a carbide tip blade in your brushwacker? I am wondering how they take the punishment.

Re: 10" brush blade

Never saw a carbide tipped blade, but I do have a steel blade that I have pushed to the limit on more than a few occasions. Went from full rpms to pretty much stopping it dead with too much of a bite(my fault) and didn't warp twist, or break the blade - more concerned about the punishment the motor took.

Re: 10" brush blade

I have a big big Echo rig I have been beating h*ll out of for years. Harness, straight shaft, bevel gears. With a good blade i can take a 3" sapling nwith 2 whacks at the most. My wife has me on a mission this year and i am 25% in and two blades down. Then i saw carbides.... i thought that this is about as lousy an application for a carbide as their can be but you never know.

Re: 10" brush blade

I personally think I might skip that one my friend. Being a woodworker by trade and knowing how easy it is to jamb up those blades, if those carbide tips ever let go you'd be in a world of hurt. Not to mention I've hit my steel blade a time or 2 with a die grinder with a roloc disc and she is as good as new.
