Question 68 Headlight Vacuum Doors Won't Work

Installed a new kit which included door assemblies, canisters, tank, hoses and installed new headlight switch. I put a vacuum gauge on the end leading into the intake and can generate 12" of vacuum but the doors will not operate. They opened when I pulled the switch but won't close even when I nudge them. Does it take morre vacuum or what? The car is completely restored and this is my last issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Make sure you have the one way check valve. I'm not sure, but if memory serves me right this can be the culprit. Others may know better and will chime in. also, when open try pulling the switch out on the vacumm tank and see if they close....they should.

Dumb question, but you do have the relay valve on the supply tank in the open position?

I do that a lot!!! Seems the valve gets moved 25% of the time I work on the car.
