Hard "Thunp" Under Acceleration?
I just started noticing an annoying "thump" (it's just annoying for now) that sounds and feels like metal to metal contact coming from the right front area of my `95 Z/28 convertible under moderate to hard acceleration from a dead stop. If I just ease into the throttle from a stop, it's not really there.
My first thought was a front suspension and/or brake problem with the right front, but given the circumstances of how and when the noise occurs, I'm now thinking a broken motor or tranny mount when the engine begins to torque under harder acceleration. To further support that theory, there is no steering or braking pull while driving, and no drivability issue once I'm moving. No noise when braking either.
Has anyone had a similar experience with their 4th gen, and does anyone have any input or thoughts on this problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I crawl under and begin assessing the situation.
BTW - This is an automatic car.
Thanks in advance for any feedback on this.
