Strange fuel tank leak

I have a small leak in my gas tank setup. I don't know where to begin so your advice would be greatly appreciated.

My tank seems to leak slightly when I fill it completely full. Is there some sort of over flow prevention? For example, when I fill up my motorcycle too much, the excess is then diverted to a drain pipe and drips out.

When I fill up my 68 Camaro to the point where the gas station pump automatically stops the flow, I seem to get drips coming from somewhere near the top of the tank. It then leaks down the tank and eventually drips from the support straps onto my garage floor. (minor amounts) Is there something that I could tighten? The tank and fuel system is all new and free from any corrosion. This only happens when I fill the tank to the top.... If I refrain from overfilling, I don't have the problem. (Easy solution, don't overfill.... but I just want to make sure that there is nothing dangerous in my tank setup).

Thanks so much for your help guys and Happy New Year to all!

Re: Strange fuel tank leak

well it could be any of a couple of things
i would first remove you licence plate you will see the rubber coupler that connects the filler to the tank i had to change mine last year it cracked and was dripping like you discribed. the other could be the sendind unit seal . very difficult to see if you use a light and mirror and look fron the front side you can see it but difficult to tell if its leaking
and last could be a pin hole but that probley not it

Re: Strange fuel tank leak

Thank you. If it ever gets about 15 degrees here I'll go out and have a look. Thanks!
