Drive train vibration

Hi, I have a 68 350 with power-glide, it appears to have a vibration coming from the rear of the car at around 65mph and upwards under load, it sends a vibe right thru the car, is it likely that its the transmission or drive shaft, any clues please?

Re: Drive train vibration

first I would have wheels balanced.
a thrown wheel weight would cause that vibration.
Does the vibration happen when the car is in park or neutral?
Also a bent wheel can cause vibrations too!

Re: Drive train vibration

I'm starting to think its the drive shaft or universal joint, round the streets it ok, its more when you get speed up on the highway 55mph +

Re: Drive train vibration

Mine did that when the driveshaft tube somehow got dented. It would make your eyes go fuzzy at 70mph. I recently got one shortened, balanced, and new front u-joint installed for $45. Just pop the two straps off the pinion and pull the whole thing out of the transmission.

Re: Drive train vibration

look at the rear pinion angle. Caused me alot of grief. Alot of posts about it. Search pinion angle if you cant find a wheel balance of drive shaft issue.
