Another fuel gauge problem!!!

I have Auto Meter gauges, 0 ohms at sender (tank empty), 0 ohms at wire going to S terminal of gauge, ground from gauge and sender body. But my gauge reads past full. Help!

Re: Another fuel gauge problem!!!

I learned that a past full reading is a ground problem.
find another ground.

Re: Another fuel gauge problem!!!

Dawg-would you think the ground at the sender or at the gauge.

Re: Another fuel gauge problem!!!

The ground at the sender. You should be able to read some ohms/continuity from the wire going to the sending unit through the body harness to ground with the wire unhooked from the gauge.

Oh, you've done this in Post 1. Do you have original gauge to test the circuit?

Re: Another fuel gauge problem!!!

Well hooked up the original gauge cluster and it reads correctly. Must be a bad gauge?

Re: Another fuel gauge problem!!!

Found the problem. The gauge was mis-boxed. Ordered part#1214 but #1217 was in package. 240ohms empty/33ohms full.
