Fuel gauge needle bounces while driving

I have a 67 that when I am driving the needle on the fuel gauge bounces around so I not sure how much gas I have?

Re: Fuel gauge needle bounces while driving

I would start be checking sending unit ground. Located in front of the tank, behind the right rear tire, by the right tank strap.
Then check the connections going to the sending unit located in the trunk below the fuel fell pipe. One wire goes to the sending unit and the other goes to the license plate light.
It may be that the 43 year old sending unit is bad.
Hope this helps.
