Re: 1992 z28 cranks but not starting any ideas? thanks
Not much to go on with the limited info you supplied.
Right out of the gate..does the check engine light illuminate on key up?
Its not only a bulb test..but gives you some clue as to the pcm seeing key on and its ability to respond.
Like any engine..you will require some semblance of cyl pressure..correct a/f ratio for the ambient temp..sufficient secondary spark voltage and the ability to get it out.
Do you have a nice blue spark at the plug wire ends.Have you installed a fuel pressure gauge on the service valve in the fuel rail.can you hear the fuel pump self prime for 2 seconds on key up?
I am sure some book worms will flame me..but I would give this engine a quick sniff of ether down the throttle body and crank it.If it fires and stalls out..I would lean to a bad fuel pump/low pressure or no pulse width to the injectors.Best guess right now..is the infamous in tank fuel pump fail.
Some food for thought...a skewed coolant temp sensor could be dumping fuel like its -40*f.The same being said if it reads 300*f on cold start/but limited fuel at current ambient temp.
