Blue Wire

I pruchased a new engine wiring harness for my Z and I have all the wires plugged up correct, except for a blue wire with a black rubber cover on it with a female terminal end inside of it.

It comes out right before the wiring harness starts into the wiring gutter on the firewall, going towards the passenger side.

I think it's the Tach wire, but does it go to the neg side of the coil or where?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Blue Wire

If it is the tach wire it does go to the neg side of the coil. What brand of harness do you have? I have a Painless and the tach wire is purple with a white stripe.

Re: Blue Wire

It is one from eBay. . I had an orange heater motor wire, 2 plugs for the wiper setup, and a hot and ground to my coil there along with the BLUE wire. . .has to be the tach? But I have a non-original coil. Or do they have the male terminal end on the neg post on the coil? I have yet to see one on the coil.

Thanks

Re: Blue Wire

Also, did the 302 have a "low oil" indicator on it? My dad said that could be what it is.

Re: Blue Wire

Sounds like the sender wire for the oil pressure switch for the idiot lights. Is the harness you purchased for a car with or without gauges? If you have a non-gauge harness, there will be a blue wire with a rubber boot on it concealing a female spade connector. The wire would route to the sending unit location on the top of the block behind the edge of the intake manifold by the distributor. This is also the same location that the oil line fitting would thread into if you had factory gauges.Hope this info helps.

Re: Blue Wire

Color code and location are correct for oil pressure sending unit located next to distributer.

Re: Blue Wire

Sorry, it's suppose to be in the headlight harness and yes, my harness was "69 w/ gauges" and I purchased it from Heartbeat City.
