1969 RS Headlight Doors

Anyone know why my doors would open when I start the car? The headlight switch is in the off position. I cycle the switch and they do not close. It dose not matter if it is at idle or driving the car, the doors open. I close them manually but when they get vacuum they open. Thanks

Re: 1969 RS Headlight Doors

I had this happen to me and found the vacuum hose were bypassed next to the headlight switch, so when you turned the car on the headlight would open at startup. So it sounds like the headlight switch may be the problem.

Re: 1969 RS Headlight Doors

Did they ever work?

Or, did you notice the bypass after troubleshooting to get them working?

Mine have been working fine, then stopped. So I assume nothing is bypassed.

Thanks

Re: 1969 RS Headlight Doors

Sounds like possibly a faulty vacuum relay valve. It mounts to the vacuum tank. Could be stuck in the open position. You might also have a hole in the main RS hoses. Somehow, the system is getting vacuum when it should not.

Sounds like the EARLY rare daytime running lights option.

69 Camaro convertible 327, TH 350, fully restored, well almost.
