Failed Emissions

So I went to get my 92 Camaro RS smogged and it passed everything except for the guy said there was a leak in between the EVAP canister and the gas tank. It also smells like fumes in the car sometimes and the idle likes to surge. Please need help

Re: Failed Emissions

Look for a black plastic canister under the hood with a couple of vacuum lines attached to it. Follow those lines and look for a break in the line under the car and replace the line.

Re: Failed Emissions

Would that cause the car to fume and surging idle?

Nice, I was stationed there in 96-97. Looks like those shops have come a long ways since then.

Re: Failed Emissions

When the charcoal canister is bad, it can smell inside the car. Replacing the canister should help. Also, like others have said, check for cracked hoses.

Re: Failed Emissions

Those evap codes are tough... Could be a leak , a bad or loose gas cap... On some it sets if you refuel with the car running.....

If it's not the gas cap you can try looking for a broken evap hose.. If that fails ... I think you need a smoke machine..
