This car has less power than a 100-year-old lady. Ran fine when parked, next day had absolutely no power. It has been in the shop (it now has new injectors and some new computer parts which made absolutely no difference in the way it ran) and they said they could find nothing wrong with it. If you rev the engine it sort of sounds like a car with the timing severely retarded but runs smooth and even. The only thing I can think of at this point is the timing chain, but I am far better at working on the pre-computer, pre-major-polution-control models. Please help this poor lady save face.

Sounds like a classic case of a stopped up converter or collapsed head pipe. About the only way to find out for certain is to take off the converter and try it out. The collapsed header pipe is rare, but it does happen sometimes when going through a puddle of water that cools the pipe and the inner wall distorts. Can't see from the outside. Sometimes you can check vacuum. Hook up gauge and start revving engine and look for a drop in vacuum that remains constant. tom

Good suggestion but that has been ruled out. The various sensors have been checked as well. Thanks for taking the time to try to help me.
