Question

I'm trying to locate the KNOCK SENSOR (probably mispelled) on a 1988 Camaro, it's has a 305

you'll find it on the passanger's side, in the middle of the block, about an inch above the pan rail. Use a 3/4" wrench to remove it, it has one wire connected to it that you have to squeeze to remove.
When re installing it, do not use pipe sealant of any kind, and do not use an impact wrench or drop it. (they are pretty dainty on the inside)

ps, when you remove the sensor, you'll be draining that side of the block of coolant. (make sure you have a catch bucket under it)

Also, I've read, depending on how tight it is screwed into the block will affect its "hearing" i.e., the tighter, the more sensitive to sound.

Teflon tape also affects its hearing, the more tape to seal, the less it will "hear", less retarded timing.

See a pattern?
