Are you sure you got all the wires back onto the opti in the correct order? Is the coil plugged in? did you unplug any other sensors to gain access to the plugs? Is there a vacuum leak by the air intake pipe? Are you getting fuel pressure?
check all these things and let us know. I have the same engine in my 68, but have never had that problem before.
I know this sounds dumb, but did you put your Distributer in 180 deg off. My buddy did that and it was a real pain to figure out what he did. Also I would check to see if the dist. cap is on correct. You also might have your timing way off. At TDC the rotor should point to you #1 cylinder spark plug wire, (not the actual cyclinder). I have heard of people getting that confused. Good luck
