I have an 82 z28 with low mileage on it. When i go more than a few miles and start to use the brakes the car shakes violently. It feels like the back end is going to fall off. The same thing happens when i take off sometimes also. Kind of like the rear of the car doesn't want to come with the front. I just changed the brake pads and the rotors on all four wheels so thats not it. It also feels like something beneath my feet is moving when i stop and start. Could this be connected or is this a new problem. I'm becoming very frustrated with my first car. If anyone can help me out here it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Those 3rd gens are notorious for breaking transmission mounts, does it make any kind of noise when this vibration happens? Just a thought.....KZ

Thats what I was thinking...a broken tranny mount, or maybe a way shot (or missing) rear suspension bushing, or even a broken or cracked rear control arm or torque arm (I think thats what it is called) on the back of the trans.

Thanks for the help guys. Now i have a place to start at least. yes the car also makes noise when it vibrates. I'm hoping it's just a tranny mount which shouldn't be to costly. Thanks again

Hello there,

I have a 1984 Camaro that used to do that when I would get on it. The back end would shake up and down violently. I beleive it had something to do with the fact that I didn't have a rear sway bar on it. I accually blew out 2 sets of shocks because of this. So I put a set of Koni adjustible shocks, and a rear sway bar on it and it hasn't done it since. Hope this helps.

Did it shake when you came close to completing a stop also. Because thats when its the worst for me. Also, how much money did you put into the shocks and sway bar. From what i've heard the price can get up there. Thanks for the input-your help is greatly appreciated.
