Question

I have a 67RS 327. The car purrs, but on startup it blows some black crud out the drivers tail pipe. What would cause this? How should I fix the problem?

If it only happens after the car has sat long enough for the exhaust system to cool down fully, it's just (dirty) moisture that has condensed in the exhaust and is blown out on startup. Don't worry about it - my 50's and 60's toys do it every time they're started from cold.
