According to Mitchell on demand, your car doesn't have a map sensor, it does, on the other hand, have a MAF(mass airflow)sensor and it is in the inlet air duct. What code(s) are you getting from the computer? Give them to us so we can give you more help.
Its giving 33,34,36 but not all the time. It won't show anything for a while and then all of a sudden it does it. Generaly the car runs like a bat out of hell but after it warms up idle goes up and down from 600 rpm to 900. Always on my first try to start it she almost dies but comes alive. Not life threating but annoying. I hope its not the MAF i heard there expensve.
Where can you get Mitchell on command i bought something from autozone to help out but it sucks
Those are all MAF codes; 33-MAF sensor signal volts hi-34-MAF sensor signal volts low-36-MAF sensor burn off failure. Get thee to a reputable shop and get them to hook up a scan tool and diagnose your problem. Ask people you trust to recommend a shop.Diagnosis over the WEB is too risky. Hope this helps. Keep us posted.
After the car has warmed up, Tap on the sensor lightly with a screwdriver handle or something similar. Car might stall out. Also, check your Air intake hose. If car stalls out, you may need a sensor or your Bowtie dealer may have a software update that bypasses the sensor. Some cars got updates. I can't rememberif yours has an update or not. Have a good one-Dan
Hey I had the same problem wit my 1988 camaro iroc z it had the check engine light on and had alittle hesitation here and there i ran the code and it came back to be a map sensor but theese cars don't have a map sensor I think replaced the maf sensor located on the intake duck but that was no good either.I was then talking to one of my friends and he told me to replace the maf sensor relay located on the firewall (Right) put it on and no longer had the hesitation but had the check engine light on i reset the computer by taking off the battery cable and leaving it off for about 10 min putting it back on and from then on the car has been fine hope this helped mike
