FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON MY 1994 Z28. IT COMES ON AFTER A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD. IT WILL STAY ON UNTIL I PULL IN THE DRIVE WHEN I DO IT GOES OUT. I TRIED A SCAN TOOL AND IT DID NOTHING. WHEN I HAD THIS PROBLEM THE FANS ON THE CAR COME ON IF THE LIGHT GOES OUT AT THE DRIVE OR ONLY A FEW TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE FANS TURN BACK OFF. I THOUGHT IT WAS A COOLING PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE FANS. MY CAR STAYS BELOW 180 DEGREES. PLEASE HELP

I DO HAVE A SECURITY LIGHT THAT HAS BEEN ON FOR 20,000 BUT I DON'T THINK IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS.

the fans probably have nothing to do with the lite as they will kick on/off due to the temp of the motor as they are comp. controlled. what type of scan tool are you using? you should be getting at least one code of system normal when key on.

My 87 chevy truck did the same thing, and the light came on , but no codes were to be read. the problem was the thermostat.I guess it was confusing the computer when the motor warmed up. Glad my 69 camaro don't have a computer in it!

The engine light comes on in my car every time I drive it. That doesnt always mean that there is anything wrong. Every vehicle I have owned with high mileage has had that light come on. Sometimes, the wires get corroded and causes that light to come on. It's more of an annoyance that anything else.
