Question Windshield wipers are stuck.

I feel stupid for not remembering to put this info in, but here it is: The car is an '85 Camaro.

I replaced the wiper fluid pump, and after that my actual wipers became stuck. They do not move more than about 3 - 4 inches from the bottom of the window. I have not tried replacing the motor or anything like that as I am not very mechanically inclined, but I have looked in the gearbox behind the cover (where the pump is), and noticed that there is a dip in the inside wall of the gear (which I assume tells the motor when to pull back the wiper) that seems to engage on every turn (EDIT: It turns fairly fast). I don't know if that is supposed to happen or what, but I think maybe it has something to do with the problem.

Re: Windshield wipers are stuck.

look at your old pump and see if there is a hole in the metal backing and a hole in the plastic gear. Line those up and put a pin in them to hold them in that position. Install the pump with the wiper motor in the park position and see if that fixes it. (be sure to remove pin) If your car has pulse wipers it could be a different problembut the pump still aligns this way.
