The horsepower rating is [email protected] rpm and the torgue 160 foot pounds @3900 rpms.Ya the 2.8 is a dog.I own a 1992 rs with the 5.0 and I get great gas millage 19 city 22 highway. If you want a 6 with some power try looking for a 90 t0 92 RS with a 3.1 liter. Its a better designed engine. If you find one with a stick is even better. If you want to build them its easy. You get a flowmaster catback exhaust with dual out tailpipes. High flow cat edelbrock intake with matched cam. Buick grand national injectors. K&N air filter 8.0 msd wires rotor &cap. And a centerforce cluch.March power pulleys and you will bet pretty quick with good gas mileage. I had a 1988 2.8 liter rs and I had nothing but problems with it so I hope this helps you out
