Question

What would cause a knock at idle but only when oil is cold? Spun bearing, maybe?

I agree with the piston slap theory, especially if they are forged. Stocks will do it after many miles, but forged do it until they warm and expand.

Sometimes a loose header or manifold gasket can make some loud ticking, but will go away after the gasket expands from warm up.....this would definitely be a preferred situation...I hope thats what it is...real easy fix.
