would you say i'm running to rich if the exaust from the back of the car will burn the hell outta your eyes???? i forgot which way you turn the mixture screws on a holley vac sec to lean it some...i think its way rich

Depending on the size of your cam, you might be having the idle screw way too much in to get a decent idle. There is a section in the Holley web page concernig this. In my case, I had to open the rears a little bit by way of a small screw in the secondaries linkage. That way I got more air in the mixture at idle/more RPMs and it let me unscrew the idle screw enough to solve the same problem. For the mixture screws I used a vacuum gauge to look for max vac. No more burning eyes for me and the fuel consuption decreased. Good luck.

If you are running a Holley carb, another thing you may want to check would be for a blown power valve. Had a similar problem several years ago and no amount of adjustment would help until I replaced the valve. Hope this helps.
