I have bought aftermarket locking gas caps (that dont even look good) & heard that the bowtie locking gas caps (in classic industries catalog) ALL do not lock very well. In fact I believe you can twist them by hand once "locked" & partially open the cap, making the gasoline vulnerable!
I also heard that that bowtie locking cap (which looks similar to the RS & SS caps) was indeed offered by Chevy in the 60's & is extremely rare!!! I dont believe there was any such locking cap available.
Although http://www.heartbeatcity.net/nos_parts.htm
says otherwise! He wants 150 big ones for an original cap!!!! Comments?

Hard to believe you have a '67 or '68 Camaro and all they're trying to steal is the gas. I hear tying a rotweiller to the rear bumper works.

I am more concerned about crap being dumped into the tank.

Legitament concern & good question. I don't think I've seen a nice looking, locking gas cap for 1st gens. Don't know about a OEM one. If you think your going to have a serious contamination threat to your vehicle, for whatever reason, (Ex-girlfriend ) you may want to slap one on now.
