I want to check to see if my distibutor is in right. I wanted to know if there is a web site that has a pic of the timing marks on the plate sticking out from the block as mine are very hard to see. It's a 305..I want to make sure I have it at 0 at tdc also the rotor should point at number 1 on the cap right.... Thanx

You can rub some chalk or white paint across the marks and it will help them show up. Rub it into to marks and wipe off around them. Also, if you have it at TDC it may not be on 0. My 350 at true TDC marks at 4 BTC. Go figure huh.

Yes the rotor should point toward #1. unless you are 180 out. Easiest way to check TDC is to remove #1 plug. Place your finger in the plug hole and turn motor. Wait until you feel the compression. Then you are close. Or you have to remove the valve cover and watch the rockers for the valve to open.
