Will K&N filters mess with my MAF at all? I was wondering if the oil from the filters is getting on the filiments inside the MAF. What do all you experts think?

You might get a bit of oil vapor on the MAF wire from the filter but it shouln't cause a problem.

You car has a MAF burn off system. Every time you shut the car off warm, it pumps enough current through the "hot wire" in the MAF sensor to make it glow white hot. This burns off any kind of contamination that might be on the wire.

I would check very, very, very carefully for vacuum leaks on this engine. The TPI manifold has 9 components including the Main manifold, runners, plenum box, throttle body, bellows and MAF sensor. It's really easy to introduce a leak when you rebuild!!!!

I owned one of these when it was "showroom new" and one of the first things I did was add headers and "damn big" camshaft to the 305. The car ran great with the stock PROM and never set the check engine light unless there was a busted sensor!
