Every so often my 67 327 backfires. It's most commen when it's cold. I thought I was running too rich and did the mixture numerous times. I'm now changing the fuel pump to see if that may help. I have a new edelbrock 600 so I don't think it's that. The engine has no egr and no tac intake. Could this cause the backfire. The timing is set right. Do you think I need to change the timing chain?

I think I solved the problem. My destributer was moving on me . I had a loose destributer and it was advancing on me. I set my timing again and locked the destributer down. I lost the backfire and the car runs great again.
