It is a 92 Z28 with a 350. When you start the car it revs to around 3000 RPMs for about 6 seconds and then idles down slightly above normal. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 94 camaro rs 3.4 liter that did the same. I am not sure about your year but a replaced the idle control valve, Sometimes you can remove it and spray with carb cleaner. It should be located near the intake with connector attached

Yes, it's the idle air control valve. But be carefull when you take it off. You need to push the tip of it back into the valve. If you don't you might break it. Also use a small and I mean small wrench because you might ruin the tread on the carb. No fuel leaks from there so don't over tighten it.
