i have a 93 camaro z28. i replaced the optispark, wires, and plugs in june 2001. it started missing a few months ago. it misses only under full throttle right before it red lines and changes gears then it is fine until it is time to red line again. could it have anything to do with the coil. any ideas

Maybe the valve springs are getting weak causing the valves to bounce at higher rpms causing the miss.Just a thought.

POSSIBLE THAT SPARK PLUG BRAKING DOWN UNDER LOAD.THEY ARE SOMETIMES NFG OUT OF THE BOX.
BUT SO CAN AN IGNITION WIRE BRAKE DOWN UNDER LOAD.ALSO BAD COIL WILL BRAKE DOWN UNDER LOAD.RUN THE CARB BY HAND SO THE ENGINE IS AT THAT RPM ,THEN WATCH FOR THE MISS,ONCE YOU FIND THE MISSING PLUG ,GROUND THAT WIRE AND THE MISS WILL DISAPPEAR,IF NOT CHECK THE K.V
OF THE SPARK OR CHANGE THAT WIRE . DO THIS AS THE FIRST STEP TO DIAGNOSIS OF WHAT IT COULD BE.

Question

i forgot to mention in my original post that the high rpm missing gets alot worse as the engine gets hotter. when the engine is completely cold it doesnt do it at all. would this eliminate the valve springs and the fuel filter. fairly new filter and fuel pump.

You redline a cold engine?Rennycal 93 camaro's don't have carbs.Have the springs checked out before you drop a valve and destroy your engine.Thats alot of miles.

My car runs cooler at night and in early morning. this is when it really doesnt do it. it is during the day when it is hotter the water temp increases about 30-40 degrees.

Are you positive it's missing and not maybe detonating because of the higher temps??

relax sschevyfan take another drink putch.
the engine could be d`.i.s camaro
with a throttle valve linkage.
bring up the rpm to the rpm you saw it
miss ,anyway sounds like my diagnosis is good
you seem confused either it gets better or worse
hot or cold ,which is it.
i`m any case i`m still on the right trac.
if not check the fuel pump, gets worse when hot.

take another drink putch? What the h... is that??What is d.i.s camaro?? If your gonna make an argument at least make sense and spell correctly.Spark plugs don't 'BRAKE' down they 'BREAK' down. How do you 'watch' for a miss unless you mean watch the ignition pattern on a scope? It's okay to have disagreements but talking s... is not welcome here.

YOU STARED IT WITH YOUR CRITISM OF MY IGNITION CALL.NOTICED YOU CHANGED YOU TUNE.
YOU DONT NEED AN OCILLISCOPE BONEHEAD.
IF YOU ARE ANY KIND OF MECHANIC THEN
YOU KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN YOU RAISE RPM AT IDLE AND WATCH FOR IGNITION MISS
SHAKES THEN SMOOTHS OUT THEN SHAKES
EACH TIME IT MISSES .MAYBE A PLUG OR WIRE OR
D.I.S COIL ,DETOTONATION OR WHAT EVER.......

rennycal i know this is really weird but it only does it while driving. if i just bring it up to the rpm it doesnt do it. it starts doing it at about 4500 rpms and changes gears at about 5000 rpms. could this mean anything?
