Question

i recently purchased an 87 iroc z 305 tpi.
how do i correctly set the timing and what is it set at? also car will not crank cold without holding the accelerator pedal down 1/4 to 1/2 inch. i'm a 60's and 70's chevy guy and this is my first computer/tpi experience.

On the pass side of the engine is a brown wire with stripe on it I think it's a tan stripe. Find the plug on it and pull it apart. Start the engine and set base timing to the specs printed on the raidator support decal. I think there is mention of the wire on there too.

When done plug the wire back in.
If properly tuned up it won't start, it may be a bad idle air control.
But clean the throttle assembly just behind the throttle blades as gunk collects there and can restrict air flow at idle.
Check all vaccum hoses for splitting/ leaks.
Good luck, David
