I was getting ready to set the valve on my 396BB and noticed one of the rockers was slightly off center and I took off the rocker and the top of the valve is rounded a little. Should I buy a new rocker arm to replace the old one? I know it won't fix the valve but I'm wondering it this will help center the rocker or if it's always going to slide off the edge, and will this sort of problem cause any major break down if I don't replace the valve?

Perks,
It will never last very long unless you do something with the valve tip. I have known guys to actually take a 4" grinder and square them off in the car, but it has to be very straight. If you don't repair it properly the new rocker is just going to do the same thing in a few miles of driving.
