when i turn the ignition, i get no response from the engine and the starter is not working, but there is nothing wrong with the starter. the problem is somewhere between the ignition and the starter.ive been told that there is a relay somewhere between the two. where is it at? i have a 91 camaro rs 305 5.0. can anyone help?
greetings gregs91, 1. are you getting a security light on instrument panel? 2. is your check engine light on? 3. does your ignition key have a little pellet in it? and yes there is a starter relay in your ignition circuit. it is located behind the left hand kick panel just below the hood release handle. it has about 4 wires going to it. if the answer to questions 1 and 3 are yes, you have a vehicle anti-theft system (vats) equipped on your car. sometimes the contacts in the ignition switch wear out and don't make good contact with the pellet on the key to send the proper response to the electronic control module. your vats control module is located behind the dash on the passenger side.
