yea guys, I'm running the GM 350/345 crate motor. I was wondering what the timing, spark plug, spark plug gap other people using on this engine. I'm still using the H.E.I. ignition. My problem is the plugs keep fouling and the idle gets choppy after I drive it for 15-20 minutes. I'm running a Holly 650, and I'm even keeping the air/fuel mixture a little lean, but I'm finding a little carbon build up at the base of the plug threads (not on porclin). I'm just not clean when I hit the gas in second (Autotrans) It's as if I'm starving for gas, but it's fouling the plugs when I stop for a light and it runs choppy. I have the idle at about 550 rpm. I blew out the gas line, changed the inline fuel filter and the filter at the gas intake to the carb. Fresh gas, no Vac leaks externally. The car did sit for a few years. Could the Holly carb, just shot, and not holding the air/fuel mixture? and hints would be appreciated. Chris 1968 350/350 coupe. out of Long Island,NY

if the car sat for a few years the carb most likely is gumed up inside, and the o rings have dried out. is the float level set right? might want to rebuild the carb, holley is easy to rebuild.
