Most likely a pilot bearing,If it shifts normal with the engine off.Didnt understand all of your problem. If this is your symptom check it soon, because a bad pilot bearing can damage the transmission input shaft.

With a pilot bearing,if its just starting to go it wont bind all the time,What the bearing does is allows the trans input shaft support at the front, sets in the flywheel, and turns at the same rate as the flywheel until the clutch is depressed then the bearing allow the input shaft to slow or stop allowing gear shift change. Also i forgot to ask about the clutch. Does it dissenguage properly. This can cause the same problem.Check to see if when its pushed to the floor and in gear it doesn,t start to pull untill your petal is at least 2 t0 3 inches off the floor

Try ajusting the cluch a little bet it may be off a little. If it is letting the trans trun it will make it hard to shift.

I agree with Dale, around $200.00 labor and part $10.00 would be fair. Also have your clutch pressure plate & bearing checked. If it needs it now would be the time to do it since your already there. GENE
