i have a 92 Z28 with a 350 TPI engine. i used a paperclip to cross the contacts in the plug underneath the dash. the only trouble code i got was 12. i need to know what that means. thanks.

no tach or referense signal to the ecm.

one thing when you count the light flashing and puasing one flash puase and two flashes doesnt meen code twelve like a ford computer

just a mistake some people make when they dont work on cars with computers alot

Code 12 means you don't have a thing to worry about . Everything is normal . Actually the 12 does mean something, but it is NOT a problem code. I don't have my troubleshooting book here & can't remember exactly what it does mean.
You can buy a Haynes repair manual ($15.00) for your ride and it will explain all the codes.

Just saw the above post. Because the motor is not running you get the code 12 so it is OK.

it means no tach or referance signal to the ecm

Which is 100% normal if you turned on the key but didn't start it!
