ok, i took the distributor out and put in the pertronix conversion. put the distrbutor back in and of course it wont go in all the way where its supposed to. so i do a little research and find out i need to turn the motor over a couple of cranks to get it to drop fully. so i go out and give this a try and the car will not crank? the battery is fine and everything else seems to be getting power. the car ran just a couple of days ago before i removed the disrtibutor and i also put on a new manifold. what is the problem? does anyone know? thanx for all the help!

Is the car in park? There is a purple wire that is the signal to the starter solenoid,it should have power while cranking.While cranking you should have 10+ volts at the starter (battery) cable.If you have both powers,while cranking,check the negative batt. cable,must be clean and tight.If all this proves to be good,the starter is bad.

its really hard to tell whats what! the car is a 4- spd,69 camaro with a 327. many of the wires have been cut,spliced and what not. its to late to try anything tonight so i think tomarrow after work i may just run a lead from the bettery to the starter and see if that works, if it does then whats the prob.
like i said the car ran fine just a couple of days ago and the starter seemed healthy and it appears to be pretty fresh.
i have only had the car since feb. all the work i have done so far has been suspension work. this is my first attempt at anything under the hood. please give me some help?

there should be 1 large cable going to sol.batt+,1 lug from starter to sol.,the small wire is your signal(ign.switch+)line should be hot with key in start pos. if not check circuit and ign. switch.

This may be nutty, but are you using the clutch, or trying to crank the car in neutral? I remember a family friend have a 69 Chevelle SS that had a safety switch to prevent the car from starting unless you pressed the clutch in ... If all your wiring is intact, could this be the problem ?
