I am in the process of removing my engine. The engine has not been running right and I was going to have it torn down to check the balancing. The motor vibrates at certain RPMs. I have posted in the past and have been thought all the vibration issues that may not be the engine. I am in the process of restoring my car. The engine had to come out anyways. I noticed this afternoon that the rear intake manifold gasket along the block behind the distributor has blown out. Could this be causing my problem?

Thanks Jeff

No, that really shouldn't cause any kind of performance problem, besides causing the PCV valve to pull unfiltered air into the crankcase!

And it will make the engine leak oil like a seive!

This is a very common problem on small block Chevys. Most engine builders delete this seal when replacing the intake and fill the gap with some type of silicone gasket maker. It's adhesive properties make it far more likely to stay on place over time.
