when I stop at a stop sign or whatever something happens. my rpm drops down to about 6 rmps then I can hear and feel something happening. Yesterday I put my car in park at a stop sign when this happened and the rpm went waaayyyy up. Could this be a serpentine belt problem? I turned the car off and it was okay. Also my service engine soon light stays on all the time. Is this an emission problem? Can I rule out a transmission problem? Is there a history of problems with the service light coming on? Thanks

Sounds like a vacum problem. Had several cars that would literally die if I didn't put tranny into neutral or park when stopped.
