In my 68 Camaro when I shut off the wipers they stop at any location. Arn't they suppose to go down to the bottom position? What is the fix?

I had the same problem when I replaced my wiper motor. The only fix for the problem was to return that motor and get a new one. Is your wiring hooked up correctly?

I bought the car about 1 1/2 years ago and it has always been this way. Might be the original motor. I did replace the washer cam to get the squirters working. I don't know about the wiring. It has a connector that looks like it is hooked up correctly with no missing wires.

Dave RG,

It sounds like your park switch (located inside the gear box of the motor) is messed up. My wiper motor didn't work when I bought my 68, so, wanting to keep all original, I followed the service manual and drilled out the crimps on the gear box and repaired a broken wire. While in there I noticed a cam and copper/berrylium contact that stops at the same position everytime power is removed from the motor. I can't recall all the details as this was 2 years ago. The service manual has a pretty good description and pics. If you want to get that involved, go for it. Otherwise you will need to get another motor.

Do the wipers stop at the same place everytime? Do they stop at the top of their travel? If so, you need to rotate the drive arm on the motor.

Hope this helps, as I am far from being expert in this matter.

H-dog is on it. I took the wiper motor off and when i put it back on i had the arm 1 rotation off so when i stop the motor, it is in the middle of the windshield instead of at the base of the windshield. Try that scenerio.

I fixed it. I took the motor apart and found a broken wire and the copper bar out of adjustment. It must contact the wheel which opens the points and stops the motor at a precise spot. H-Dog thanks for your advise. It saved me about 60 bucks.
