Any thoughts on what to set the spark plug gap on a basically stock 302 with HEI.

HEI calls for .045, so I would start there<if its a late 70's-early '80's model>.Just be sure to have the correct plugs for your application, and go from there.

i think it is from 305 cu.in. on down calls for .045" gap.

check out Chevy Rumble, has some things on the HEI there, about plug gap,curving,and rebuilding.
