Question

I have a '69 Z28 that I just bought and one of the first things I did was install a tilt column and a comfort steering wheel that has the round center horn cap. If I leave the cap off the horns operate perfect when I push the part that's under the cap, but when I attach the cap the contact is very touchy. Anytime I shut the hood or just slightly tap the steering wheel I can hear the horns trying to blow. I don't know if the problem is in the part that has the small spring and pin or something else. The horn kit I bought was supposed to be for a tilt column. Can anyone help solve this problem. Thanks.

Sounds similar to a problem I had putting in a deluxe steering wheel. Check the clearance between your steering wheel nut and the contact piece for the horn. The contact piece shouldn't touch or be near the nut. The contact piece has a lot of play in it too. Make sure its centered.
