I have an 88 Camaro Iroc-Z with a 305/TBI and 5 Speed Manaul trans. My problems is my Camaro runs fine when you first start it while it's cold, but once it warms up it stalls when you try to drive it and becomes difficult to restart. I thought it might have been the Fuel Pump, so I had it checked out and the Mechanic said that it wasn't the problem. I got a second opinion and he said the same thing. It was giving a tuneup plus the Fuel Filter was changed. What else can be the problem on this Camaro? Need help bad!

it could be a couple of things
clogged fuel injectors
might need new feul regulator
might just have to tighten down the intake
also check the engine codes before you really start monkeying around with your car.

Yes,as said above,you really need to find out if you are getting a trouble code,this should lead you in a general direction.It's hard to diagnose these without actually seeing the car.A common problem that can cause your kind of trouble is the oxegen sensor.

If your problem reveals itself only after warm-up could be as simple as vacuum leak. Are you getting check engine light?

Yes the Engine light has come on serveral times. How would I go about checking the Engine Codes myself?

Try getting the trouble codes out of the computer. Locate the aldl plug under the dash near the computer. You connect a u shaped piece of paper clip between the upper right two contacts ignition off. Then turn the key to on. The light will blink 4 times then pause then 2 times. This "code" is #42! It will blink this code 3 times, then go on to blink out other trouble codes. Then finish with #42 three times again. #42 means no distributor signal because the engine is not running. Write them down and post them here and we will talk more. Also take a look at the vacumn line , might have a leak and also your mass air flow sensor could be telling the computer incorrect data

Had a similar problem with my '90 IROC. I had good fuel pressure, checked vacuum leaks, codes, etc. I finally disconnected the exhaust pipe prior to the catalytic converter and it fired right up. It was a bad convertor. It was plugged and engine couldn't breath, even to start. Probably pretty rare, but when all else fails give it a try.

Well, it didn't give me any trouble codes and the Fuel pump relay was replaced and still no go!

HEY I HAVE AN 87 305 DOING THE SAME THING I HAVEN'T FIXED MINES YET BUT THE DIRECTION IM GOING SINCE I ALREADY TUNED IT IS TO CHECK THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A CLOGGED CAT, CHECK THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ALREDY FIXED THIS PROBLEM SO I WILL KNNOW WHAT TO DO. PLEASE TRY TO GET BACK WITH ME BECAUSE IM ABOUT TO PUT IT IN THE SHOP AND SPEND A LOT OF MONEY TO LET SOMEONE ELSE FIGURE IT OUT!!!! THANX

This happened last year and according to my mechanic after the Camaro was givin a tune-up as well as the Oxygen Sensor was replaced the problem stopped. At least that's the way it went with my Camaro. I am not saying that it could be your Oxygen Sensor, but you never know. In anycase I wish you luck.

I'm still betting on the fuel pump. What was the fuel pressure when checked hot and cold. I had a TPI Trans Am that would pull a weird stunt like that. I hooked up gauge to it and drove arround a bit and sure enough the pressure would start to fall after 10 mins of driving then would not restart.

My Camaro Was running Rough last year and my brothers Fuel Pump Died and left him stranded so we switch Gas Companies and havent had a problem since
