Question

OK, I'm burning out control modules, and as the car is running, before it dies I can hear an electrical Arching coming from the distributor, I have no Idea what would cause this noise, and if it is related to the burning out of my control modular. -pink68, I'm getting closer, but I'm not quite there yet

check all your plugs and ignition wires. If you have a bad plug wire and it happens to be one plugged into the distributor cap near the ignition module, the HEI has enough power to arc to the module and blow it out!

It's usually a bad wire, the wire develops so much resistance the spark has nowhere to go. ALL HEI distributor engines should not run over .045 plug gap in spite of what the decal on the car says. The later manuals have been revised to the smaller gap. The .065 gap on earlier HEI distributors was overloading the wires.
