is there any way to tell if the transmission is bad with out pulling it?

Saginaw 4-speed

I'm still driving with it. it still shifts, but I'm getting alot of vibration and I was wondering if one of the bearings is going. I've read were alot of people have had troble with the front bearing going bad.

What sort of vibration? At what speed? Do you feel the vibration in the shifter? The Seat? Any new noises?

Some guys have noticed certain clutches aren't balanced. I could swear mine doesn't always matched up the same. Pumping the clutch one time or two will normally clear the vibration up. It's a real pain. Do you get a throw out bearing noise with the car out of gear? One member mentioned the original drive shafts had offset yokes to dampen vibrations that can set up on the shaft if it's in balance. Good luck.

mostly felt in the shifter. I can also feel it in the clutch pedal about half way down.

the vibratiois the worst between about 2200 RPM to around 2600 RPM. above and below that it is not that bad.
